The Katie Benson School of Dance
Our school of dance was established in 1958 by Betty Keller. Betty specialized in ballet and successfully managed the studio for 14 years,
all-the-while, building a strong foundation for subsequent generations.
In 1972 Betty then transferred her legacy to Judy Hakes. Over the next 37 years Judy continued her education under the great Al Gilbert
and Debbi Dee. She mastered in tap and eventually, over the years, added many other styles of dance for the benefit of her business, teachers,
and her many students. In 2010, citing many personal commitments, Judy entered into semi-retirement and sold the business to Miss Katie Benson.
Katie has been dancing since age 8, and teaching part-time since age 18. In 2005 she joined Judy as a full time member of her staff. After 4 years of education, and the years of learning under Judy, Katie was graduated as a certified teaching member of the prestigious Dance Masters of America; finishing tops in her class!
It has always been Katie’s dream to own and manage a studio. She is now very pleased to be realizing her dream at the area’s oldest and most esteemed dance establishment, whose professional and dedicated staff, has successfully taught the art of dance to thousands of students for the past 66 years…and counting!
Thank you for your continued support.
